Industrial Data Scientist (Intern)
We are seeking motivated interns with strong programming skills in Python and a background in electrical engineering, robotics, or related engineering disciplines.
This internship focuses on the development of industrial data connectors, process control monitoring, and the enhancement of data quality to support advanced analytics and AI/ML applications in manufacturing environments.
- Design and implement robust data connectors for industrial databases and historians (e.g., AVEVA OSIsoft PI, Aspentech IP.21, Wonderware…), enabling seamless data ingestion and integration.
- Ensure data quality with appropriate data compression, assetization, signal validation, and enforcement of naming conventions and metadata standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement data governance practices that improve data usability and reliability.
- Develop tools and scripts to automate data profiling, anomaly detection, and data lineage tracking.
- Support the integration of data connectors into scalable pipelines for real-time and historical data analysis.
- Contribute to the democratization of industrial data by enabling self-service access and visualization for production engineers.
- Explore the application of ML techniques for System Identification, data quality assessment and measurement system analysis (MSA).
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Automation, or a related engineering field.
- Proficient in Python; experience with libraries such as pandas and/or polars
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., REST API, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT) and SCADA systems.
- Understanding of data quality principles, including signal integrity, timestamp alignment, and contextualization.
- Experience with data visualization tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Grafana) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in data handling.
- Fluent in technical English, both written and spoken.
- Gain hands-on experience in industrial data engineering and quality assurance.
- Work with a dynamic and innovative team at the intersection of manufacturing and AI.
- Contribute to impactful projects that enhance data-driven decision-making in industry.
- Remote office, flexible working hours and exposure to real-world industrial challenges.
